On Thursday 5th July, Betty Brown brought the Olympic torch to All Saints Parish Hall for a dual celebration. Betty, a resident of Scratby had earlier carried the Torch in the relay through Filby.
Over 200 residents of Ormesby, California, Scratby and the surrounding villages attended the event held in the evening at the Hall, and many took the once in a lifetime opportunity to have their photos taken with the Torch.
It was also the first chance that many of the residents had had to visit the new hall since it’s official opening and many expressed their delight at having such a fantastic facility available to them.
The Management Committee were on hand to talk to the visitors and to show them around and talk about the plans for the future. Many visitors filled out a survey form which will enable the committee to target activities to the wants and needs of the community.
A big thank you however needs to go to Great Yarmouth Sports Partnership for their grant towards the costs of the evening.
